लेकिन, रोस टेलर और विकेटकीपर टॉम लैथम ने गजब की बल्लेबाजी की. दोनों बल्लेबाजों ने मिलकर 130 रनों की साझेदारी की. और टीम का स्कोर 200 के पार पहुंचाया. टेलर ने जहाँ 80 रन बनाए. तो वहीं, लैथम ने 68 रनों की बेहतरीन पारी खेली. लेकिन, इन दोनों के आउट होते ही किवी टीम 266 रनों पर सिमट गयी. पाकिस्तान की ओर से शाहीन अफरीदी और शादाब खान ने चार-चारा विकेट निकाले.
जवाब में उतरी पाकिस्तानी टीम के तीन बल्लेबाज आठ रन के स्कोर पर ही पवेलियन लौट चुके. बोल्ट की घातक गेंदबाजी के सामने पाकिस्तानी बल्लेबाज ने घुटने टेक दिए. इसके बाद सरफराज अहमद और इमाद वसीम ने कुछ हद तक पारी को संभालने की नाकाम कोशिश की. मगर, टीम को हार से नहीं बचा पाए. तो इस तरह वनडे क्रिकेट में पाकिस्तान को न्यूजीलैंड के हाथों लगातार 11 मैचों में हार का सामना करना पड़ा.

Earlier, New Zealand put on a spirited show with the bat. Coming into the 50-over series after 3-0 loss in the T20s, Blackcaps set Pakistan a target of 267. Ross Taylor and Tom Latham were the stars with the bat for Blackcaps, rescuing their side after they were reduced to 78/3 in seventeen over. The late charge by the tailenders also helped the cause.
In reply, Pakistan suffered three back-to-back blows early in the chase and come out of it. Sarfraz Ahmed and Imad Wasim tried with the bat but it was too late for the hosts. To draw the series level, they must step up here, particularly with the bat.
