For his debut stint in the test series against Australia in 2014-15, Duncan Fletcher was the head coach of the national team. Then, Ravi Shastri coached Indian team for 1 year. Then, came former batsman Sanjay Bangar who was appointed the coach of the Indian team for the Zimbabwe tour in June 2016.
In the same year, Anil Kumble was made the head coach of the Indian team and did not extend his tenure after the expiry due to fall-out with Virat Kohli. Then Ravi Shastri is the head coach of the team since 2017.
Ravi Shastri had taken the role of Head Coach of the Indian team way back in 2017 after Anil Kumble. He has had a glorious stint with the team, getting so many wins under him and major series around the world and at home. From beating Australia at their home and taking a 2-1 lead in the recently concluded test series against England, it has been a good time for the coach.
Shastri had his first contract ended in 2019, but then he was re-appointed to his position in August 2019 and was handed over a two year contract, which will end just after the T20 World Cup.
