Every Indian from around the globe was absolutely shocked after the tragic incident that took place in Uttarakhand on February 7, Sunday. Nearly, 14 people have been killed and over 170 are still missing after a part of a glacier burst in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district which further triggered a deluge in the Alaknanda river system. India’s swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has decided to stand up for the noble cause as he will donate his entire match fee for the rescue efforts.

Rishabh Pant stands for a noble cause

Rishabh Pant, who is currently part of the Indian team in the ongoing India vs England 1st Test in Chennai, reflected on the heartening incident that took place in Uttarakhand on Twitter. In his latest tweet, Pant wrote that he was feeling very much saddened for the loss of life. The left-handed batsman also urged the rest of the people to help out in this tough time for the Uttarakhand people.

“Deeply pained by the loss of life in Uttarakhand. Would like to donate my match fee for the rescue efforts and would urge more people to help out” wrote Rishabh Pant on Twitter.

Pant, Sundar and Pujara force England to go against enforcing follow-on

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, England posted a massive total of 578 runs with skipper Joe Root scoring an amazing double ton. In reply, the Indian top-order was seen struggling against the England bowling attack as they were reduced to 73 for 4. However, the pair of Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant then batted really well at a brisk rate to put the visiting team under pressure. Pant played a superb knock of 91 runs off just 88 balls while Pujara also composed a beautiful innings of 73 runs.

After the dismissals of Pujara and Pant in quick succession, India desperately needed something very brilliant to make a comeback in the game and then Washington Sundar contributed with an excellent unbeaten knock of 85 runs. India were bowled out for 337 runs in the first innings. With a massive lead of 241 runs in their kitty, England have decided to bat again and they will surely be looking to set a mammoth fourth innings task for the home team.
