Andre Russell played a whirlwind knock of 88 off just 36 balls to help Kolkata Knight Riders post a colossal total on the board. Particularly targeting the hero of the IPL 2018 opener Dwayne Bravo, Russell slammed 11 sixes in one of the most exciting T20 innings. In the 19th over, the West Indian all-rounder smashed Bravo for three consecutive maximums.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and invited Kolkata Knight Rides to bat first at Chepauk. Sunil Narine began in his usual fashion, striking a couple of sixes in the first over but perished in the very second over.

It was a stop-start innings for KKR, as wickets kept falling for them at regular intervals.  For Kolkata, Uthappa and skipper Dinesh Karthik played good hands with the bat. For the home side, Waston picked 2 wickets.
