TNM vs AT Dream11: We are well into the New Zealand Basketball League and there have been some amazing battles already. The season is dispersed in a way and at times a team ends up playing just a couple of weeks in a week’s space. And in this game, the Taranaki Mountaineers will host the Auckland Tuatara.
The Mountainairs have had a slow start to the season, winning just three out of their seven games. In this game, they come after suffering a horrible 92:103 loss against the Wellington Saints that break a two-game winning streak. On the flip side, Auckland Tuatara is the best team in the league record-wise and comes into the game after a one-sided victory against Manawatu Jets, winning 87:59. Can the Mountainairs pull off an upset here?

Auckland continues to sizzle
Tuatara has been the best team in the league and they have built a great reputation, being number one in points per game with almost 90 a game. The best part for the team is that they are also the best defensive team, limiting teams to mere 72 points a game. The duo of Chris Johnson and Robert Loe has combined for almost 37 points a game and 24 rebounds per game. Johnson, Schneider, Loe, and Russo-Nance average around 3 assists per game and the scoring is brilliantly balanced.
On the other hand, Taranaki Airs are the number three team in rebounds per game, however, they do have a big concern. Their defense is fourth-worst whereas their offense hasn’t been good enough so far to address the lack of defense. The signing of Anthony Hillard has given them an unprecedented boost as the veteran is averaging over 30 points a game. Javontae Douglas has been inspirational too but a better scoring balance will be more desirable for the squad.
Chris had a terrific game, making five of his 12 shots.
