BOS vs NYK Dream11: With COVID-19 again inserting its vicious fangs into the world, the NBA has done a more than decent job of keeping going and perhaps has become the envy of many major leagues that are unable to field the majority of their games. The NBA business model remains undeterred and that is why we are here, discussing this game!
Here, the New York Knicks will take on Boston Celtics in a cult classic Eastern Conference battle. These two teams are not far away in terms of record, the Knicks having just one more win in a similar amount of games and both below the 50% win mark. Poetically, the Knicks got that +1 win against the Celtics in the last game as young RJ Barrett hit the buzzer-beater to win the game.
The Knicks and Celtics both have faced a multitude of issues this season and despite loaded and relatively experienced rosters, both teams have failed to make a mark this season. As the season has progressed, the teams have showcased certain problems related to efficiency and defensive discipline time and time again. Let us see if the two teams show any progress as the season develops.
Host: Boston Celtics Visitors: New York Knicks Match Timing: 9 January, @ 06:00 AM Venue: Madison Square Garden
Celtics: Looks great on paper, not so much on the court Despite having two scorers in Tatum and Brown, who can pull off 25 or more on a regular basis, the Celtics have been unable to dominate opponents. With Smart, Schroeder in the backcourt there are two more formidable scorers and overall, the guard depth for the team looks more than promising. On the other hand, with Horford and Williams in the frontcourt, two big bodies, the Celtics have a formidable lineup. Smart, Tatum, Brown, Schroeder, Williams, and Horford, all more than decent defenders, it is a surprise that the Celtics are unable to field an imposing two-way lineup on a nightly basis. The talent level and the athleticism of the team should have yielded better returns but things have not gone the Celtics’ way. Knicks: Inconsistency shooting-wise Defensively, the Knicks have done a decent job this season but yes, they are not elite like they were last season. New York’s biggest issue has been the lack of shooting efficiency, especially from the guards. Fournier, Barrett, and Burks, the three major guards have all been preoccupied with a habit, go for a big night in one game and then shoot below-par in the next one. These shooting struggles have made it difficult for Randle to find open lanes at times and the defense can then surround him. Overall, the Knicks need at least a couple of players to show more offensive consistency and I feel they still haven’t figured out a winning combination when it comes to fielding different lineups. Jayson Tatum(BOS) Points: 36 Rebounds: 06 Assists: 09 Steals: 02 Blocks: 01 Jayson is one of the specialist scorers at the wing position and with his craft, he can also create multiple opportunities for his teammates. The high-scoring Forward has figured in the 24-36 points, 6-11 rebounds, and 3-9 assists a game range continually this season. Jayson is an option for Star/Pro Player in the Dream11 NBA scenario. Expected Fantasy Points Range: 40-50
Julius Randle(NYK) Points: 22 Rebounds: 08 Assists: 02 Steals: 02 Randle is one of the best Power Forwards in the league right now, having earne the All-Star tag during the last season. The feisty Forward has scored 20+ points, grabbed 7+ rebounds, and handed over 4+ assists a game continually this season. Expected Fantasy Points Range: 39-49
Jaylen Brown(BOS) Points: 16 Rebounds: 07 Assists: 01 Jaylen is a high-scoring guard whose scoring toolkit is no less varied than Tatum. Brown has had multiple 30+ points nights, 5+ rebounds, and 1+ steal nights. His usual scoring range is 20-26. Expected Fantasy Points Range: 28-49
Evan Fournier(NYK) Points: 41 Rebounds: 08 Assists: 02 Steals: 01 Blocks: 01 Evan hit ten triples in the last game and had the best offensive outing of the season. That is all fine and dandy but the Guard has usually followed huge scoring nights with below 10 points outings, will that trend continue? Expected Fantasy Points Range: 18-41
RJ Barrett(NYK ) Points: 13 Rebounds: 03 Assists: 06 RJ has been another one of those inconsistent players who have a huge scoring night and then follows it up with a cold shooting spell. The Guard has usually scored in the 13-16 range while grabbing 5+ rebounds during most games. Expected Fantasy Points Range: 20-37
Marcus Smart(BOS) Points: 14 Rebounds: 02 Assists: 05 Smart has been playing alongside Tatum and Brown for a decent amount of years now. The guard is a serviceable scorer, playmaker, rebounder, and defender, often figuring in 12-17 points, 2-7 rebounds, 4-7 assists, and 1-3 steals a game range. Expected Fantasy Points Range: 22-30
