CHI vs PHX Dream11: The trade deadline is nearing and during this window, we hear a lot of rumours, and well, some of them fall flat while some hit the mark. The current window leaves a lot to speculation but with the deadline barely two-three days away, you can see some big-time names being moved. This is a period where there is a lot of movement and the players are left to adjust to new systems while the systems have to adjust to their players. Anyway, without further ado, let us jump into this match between the Chicago Bulls and the Phoenix Suns.

The Bulls have had a great season so far, and their win count is already more than they had all of the last season. The decision to bring in DeRozan, Ball, and Caruso fetched the desired results and they have formed a sturdy core alongside Vucevic and LaVine. However, with long-term injuries to Ball, Caruso, and with an in-and-out LaVine, the Bulls have showcased some struggles since January.

On the other hand, struggles is not a word you’d want to associate with the Phoenix Suns. They have four times more wins than losses, playing at a high clip all season long. They have lost just five out of 25 games away from home, and this is the best road record in the league by far. The Suns have set a high standard this season and are primed to repeat as the Finalists.

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Bulls: Can they win around 50-55% of games till Lonzo returns
Bulls have lost 67% of their games since the early second week of January. A record that surely means that they have struggled since that period. Chicago has had tremendous struggles on the defensive end since Ball and Caruso have been out, and one of the major reasons for that is that they have had to play with a lineup that is yet to build defensive chemistry. The Bulls’ bench has run out of options especially with the injury to Coby White, so yes, their struggles are understandable. Remember, the team’s stalwart defender Patrick Williams has been out since early season, which also disturbed the overall balance.

LaVine has been moving in and out of the lineup and the team needs him to be there consistently. DeRozan has been scoring at an elite clip but he is more effective with LaVine in the mix as it gives the team scoring depth. Vucevic has done his job all season long, grabbing rebounds, and scoring at a high clip but he doesn’t get much help in the middle. Javonte Green has raised his scoring and that has fetched some wins too, but overall the team is not deep on multiple fronts. The trade deadline is here and if the team is somehow able to land a player like Eric Gordon, it can help their cause(But can they?).

Suns: On-song
The Suns continue to pour heat whether they are at home or away. They are certainly the top contenders for the Finals as of now and their run has been fuelled by an even improved effort from players like Bridges. The Suns reached the Finals last season and this season, they have staked the claim to reach there yet again. With Booker and Paul in the backcourt, they have two MVP-level players while the wing pairing of Crowder, Johnson, and Bridges is exciting at it gets. Deandre Ayton is the cherry on top with his old-school throwback-styled game that served the team well during the last Playoffs.

However, the rise of the Warriors can bring some ruptures to this run. The trouble while playing against the Warriors is that like the Suns, they are well-adept at adjusting and that is what Playoffs are all about; adjusting. However, a major chunk of the season still remains but if the Suns get the top spot, they will have the home-court advantage till the Finals, which is a huge factor in the postseason, where winning on road is tough for even a team like the Suns that has done so all season long. Now, we can’t also ignore the rise of the Grizzlies and a darkhorse candidate like Mavericks seems to be built for the postseason too with the gritty defensive style. But even considering all of this, it will not be a surprise if the Suns make the Finals again this season.
