Lakers: A lot of catching up to do
The Lakers will be without Anthony Davis for the next six weeks at least and they have been already playing such underwhelming basketball that this absence will only hurt them further. While LeBron James has continued to pound in big-time points and has gotten the job done, Russell Westbrook is yet to display his full talent as the Frank Vogel run Lakers system hasn’t been suiting him so far. The Lakers have been one of the least hustling teams and their defense has held them back throughout the season.

Carmelo Anthony will probably return for this game and oh boy, the Lakers can certainly use his talents at the big-Forward position. Malik Monk will have to continue his sizzling season but more is needed out of Talen Horton-Tucker, who has been misfiring a bit this season. Stanley Johnson needs to be more productive whereas rookie Austin Reaves has done well in addressing some needs. Overall, the Lakers have a lot of catching up to do but yes, only solidifying a Play-in spot looks viable as the top-seven squads have built a big separation.

Clippers: Gotta love the fight!
Missing two of your best players can surely hurt the team balance and when you lack a third All-Star level player, it only makes matters worse for you. The Clippers have been making most of their resources and surely having an experienced lineup is helpful in these scenarios. The team has erased two big 25 and 35 points deficits earlier and that alone is the testament to what this team is capable of. They have done well to not slide off and being at the eighth position is surely a success so far for this depleted squad.

Reggie Jackson has been running the show well, Marcus Morris keeps responding well at the wing position while Batum gives the hustle and defense. Ivica Zubac is going to be the key from here on and if he keeps dipping in points and clasp rebounds, the Clippers can continue to hover around the 50% win mark. Terance Mann is the “X-Factor” for me but the Clippers need good news. And that is likely going to be the return of Paul George. Can the Clippers keep their campaign through their gritty nature?
