LaMelo Ball dishing assists behind the back around Khris Middleton MIL vs CHA Dream11

MIL vs CHA Dream11: The Eastern Conference landscape has continued to heat up with each day and as we look at the standings, there is this uncertainty about who will finish where. It is not like a breakaway scenario in the West where the Phoenix Suns have been seated at the top with a light year of distance from the other squads. The East has had a wide-open race to the top for most parts and despite the ascension of Bulls and Heat, it still remains pretty wide open. And here, two Eastern Conference teams in Milwaukee Bucks and Charlotte Hornets collide in an important game.

The Bucks are a superb team and they are the defending champions. However, in all honesty, this season’s campaign has been a sort of far cry from being a championship one so far. There are various issues to iron out but one thing is for sure, with Antetokounmpo taking care of the matters, they will be a handful during the Postseason.

On the other hand, the Hornets have lost the plot this month and continue to fall off the radar. They have continued to fall down in rankings and after being in the middle of the Eastern pack for most parts, they have been now among the last few teams of the Play-in race. Can the Hornets build some distance with the likes of Hawks?

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Bucks: They have had some tough losses
The Bucks have had some strange losses. They lost to the Nets in the last game despite fielding a formidable starting five. They have lost to the Pistons, Trail Blazers, and other below 50% win teams too that were facing the full force of this team during the last season. One thing is for sure, their bench is looking pale with each day. With Tucker’s departure in the offseason, Brook Lopez’s injury, then DiVincenzo’s trade, and the current injury of Pat Connaughton, the team has lacked bench depth throughout the season and the two-guard position has been vulnerable as a result of it. That is why the team has been highly reliant on the main-five.

It is true that the threat of Giannis is captivating enough to keep the flow going but things aren’t the same as last season so far, largely because the team has been unable to deploy effective bench production. Last season it was the duo of Connaughton and Portis that brought a lot to the table but with the injuries to Hill, Connaughton, and Lopez(For most of the season), there is certainly a slim lineup. While it is true that in the Playoffs, the main-five and the one or two bench players are usually playing major minutes, the bench does a great job of covering in terms of injuries while also helping the starters stay fresh for the postseason, something the Bucks have lacked this season.

Hornets: Such depth, such shallow returns
Matters are becoming alarming for the Hornets, a team that was a sweet surprise till mid-January but has surely fallen off the radar since late January. This has been a huge concern because undoubtedly, there is a lot of depth in this outfit. Imagine having four-to-five shot-creators, high-clip three-point bombers, multiple playmakers, terrific athletes, and now even a deep Center lineup. The Hornets have not translated this into a success and with Gordon Hayward’s absence, the semblance has been hurt quite a bit. There are two big issues for the team, lack of defense and inefficiency from the three-point line these days.

LaMelo Ball’s offense has taken a holiday but he is vital as a playmaker and rebounder. Miles Bridges and Terry Rozier have played at a high level while PJ Washington has done well in the starting role. Kelly Oubre’s three-point shooting isn’t like the prior months but yes, the inclusion of Harrell has improved the production in the middle and the rebounding too. The Hornets’ three out of the last four losses have come in Overtime, it means that they are not able to get big separations from other teams, an issue that can largely be pinned on their so-so-defense. Charlotte can’t afford to fall too behind, Hawks can secure the ninth spot anytime while the team keeps on falling behind the Nets and Raptors for the seventh and eighth spot. It is surprising how much they have struggled despite their depth.
