Marnus Labuschagne, the first-ever anti-concussion substitute player, became the leading run-scorer in 2019 Test matches when he replaced Steve Smith in 2nd Test of Ashes, who suffered a concussion by a deadly bouncer of Jofra Archer. Marnus seized the opportunity by scoring two consecutive half-centuries in the 2019 Ashes. From there, he has been unstoppable.
South-Africa born Labuschagne was inspired by Jacques Kallis in his childhood. He grew up speaking Afrikaans, and only became fluent in English when he moved to Australia in 2004. When he was 10 years old he had to move to Australia because of his father’s job. At that time he was pretty upset but now he is grateful for all the opportunities, the love and the greatness he has achieved for this country.
