Sean Williams is one of the modern time greats for Zimbabwe with his all-round play.  With more than 6000 international runs to his name, Williams has been part of the recent Zimbabwe history. A glittering star in the game for the national side, he holds a unique record of scoring more than 5000 runs and scalping more than 100 wickets in international cricket for Zimbabwe.

Career

Sean Williams first roused to the cricketing stage in the year 2005 when he made his debut against South Africa in 2005. A player with sporting background, Sean has been part of the dark and golden period of the Zimbabwe cricket. During his cricketing career, Sean saw Zimbabwe lose their Test status, while they also leading the side to the T20 World Cup in 2022.

Sean was part of the Zimbabwe side that played at the 2006 U-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka. Sean was the captain of the side and led them to three wins in four. Zimbabwe’s win against England was the feather in the cap for Williams.

Interestingly, he could have been part of the Zimbabwe team as early as 2004, but his father’s decision to not let him go delayed his arrival at international stage.

Sean was unlucky to have missed out on latter stages of the  2011 ODI World Cup after sustaining a thumb fracture. The injury saw him ruled out of the tournament after just two matches.

In March 2020, Sean was the ranked second in the list of ICC T20I all-rounders rankings.
