Virat Kohli Injury Update for ENG vs IND: Team India went on to register a thumping 10-wicket victory over England in the first ODI encounter at the Kennington Oval on Tuesday. The Rohit Sharma-led team have secured a 1-0 lead in this three-match ODI series. However, England will be ready for a comeback as they face India in the second ODI match at the Lord’s in London on 14 July, 2022 (Thursday).
The visiting Indian side suffered a huge blow as their premier batsman Virat Kohli was not available for selection during the first ODI game due to a groin strain. However, Virat was seen gathering in a huddle before the match with the rest of the teammates but did not attended the warm-up sessions. The recent update is that Kohli might not have completely recovered from the groin injury and is very much likely to miss the 2nd ODI encounter against England scheduled on Thursday.
This also puts a question mark on his availability for the third and final ODI against England as well. There have been reports doing the rounds that suggest that Virat Kohli has requested the national selectors to not be considered for the upcoming five-match T20I series against West Indies.
With Virat Kohli not available for selection, India is expected to field an unchanged playing XI in the 2nd ODI against England on Thursday. This also means that Shreyas Iyer will get another opportunity to bat at the No.3 position.
