The top-order batsman of New Zealand team, Finn Allen has been quite active in playing white-ball cricket this year. After impressive performances with the national team, he got a stint with RCB in the Indian Premier League. After IPL 2021 was postponed, he featured in English T20 Blast and English One Day Cup, and then also played The Hundred. But, the batter has been tested COVID positive in Dhaka after 2 days of arriving from London. The player is said to have been experiencing moderate symptoms and will receive treatment from Bangladesh as well as New Zealand team management’s doctor.
The other members of the New Zealand team will undergo a 3-day isolation after Finn Allen has been tested positive. Below is the official statement by BLACKCAPS on Finn Allen,
“Allen, who represented the Birmingham Phoenix in England’s new Hundred competition, is fully-vaccinated and passed all his pre-departure tests in England – before testing positive 48 hours after arrival in Dhaka. He has been quarantined at the team’s hotel and immediate advice is that he is experiencing moderate symptoms.”
Team manager Mike Sandle also gave an update about the batter. He said, “It’s really unfortunate for Finn. He’s comfortable at the moment and hopefully he’ll recover quickly; test negative and be cleared and approved for discharge as soon as possible.”
