The Indian Premier League Phase 2 has turned out to be an exciting contest between the teams in the United Arab Emirates. The players have been kept in a bio bubble after the sport was resumed after a long lockdown in 2020. Right from every bilateral series and T20 tournaments, there have been special arrangements by the respective cricket boards for the bio bubble camps. A few weeks back, there were cases detected in the SRH camp, but the situation was in control, when the other players were tested negative. There has been a latest update about the bio bubble in the IPL 2021.
The West Indies batsman Chris Gayle has announced his decision to leave the bio bubble to refresh himself ahead of the T20 World Cup to help the West Indies team to win the title. Here is the official tweet by the Punjab Kings franchise which confirms the news,
Chris Gayle said, “Over the last few months, I have been a part of the CWI bubble, CPL bubble followed by the IPL bubble, and I wish to mentally recharge and refresh myself. I want to refocus on helping the West Indies in the T20 World Cup and would like to take a break in Dubai,”
Chris Gayle featured in 10 matches of the IPL 2021 and amassed 191 runs. In the UAE leg, he could score only 15 runs in 2 matches.
The possible overseas options of the team will be Moises Henriques, Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, and Fabian Allen. It is expected that the team may opt to play Moises Henriques, who has an ability to contribute in both departments.
If the team opts to play with 3 overseas players, they can bring in promising Shahrukh Khan who played well in the Phase 1.
