Virat Kohli out of ENG vs IND 1st ODI: In a massive breaking news development, star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is set to miss the upcoming first ODI match against England scheduled to take place on 12 July, 2022 (Tuesday) at the Kennington Oval in London. After a superb performance in the recently concluded T20I series, India is all set to lock horns with England in a three-match ODI series. The Men in Blue registered a brilliant 2-1 series win in the shortest format of the game against the home side.
According to a confidential source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), former Indian captain Virat Kohli will not be available for selection in the upcoming 1st ODI against England due to a groin strain. It is understood that Virat sustained the groin injury during the third and final T20I encounter against England on Sunday. Incidentally, the right-handed batsman has not been in the best of forms with the bat across the three formats of the game in the recent while and this injury can be a huge blow for him. In the absence of Kohli, Shreyas Iyer is likely to be slotted in the India Playing 11 for the opening ODI against England on Tuesday.
“Virat has a groin strain during last game. It can’t be confirmed whether it happened during fielding or while batting. He will probably miss first ODI tomorrow at Oval as the groin needs rest,” a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity.
