And we could yet see the Indian Premier League (IPL), forced into a mid-season hiatus by the virus, seeing the light. There’s a possibility of IPL 2021 season jumping and darting over the finishing line. Royal Challengers Bangalore fans would welcome the latest developments with open arms, as will all the cricket fans. Virat Kohli’s RCB was amongst the teams setting the early pace in IPL 2021.

IPL In England

As per the latest developments, the IPL governing council have plenty of options to consider with countries such as Sri Lanka and the UAE making offers to host the cash-rich tournaments.

There are also reports that several English counties have come up with proposals to host the remaining IPL matches, possibly in the month of September.

Is Sri Lanka an option to host IPL?

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has accepted that there are options to host the IPL in foreign locations, but the board is yet to discuss them and that the offers have come too early.

“We will explore all the options and see when it’s feasible to play those matches and take a call at the right time,” Dhumal said.

“Their offer has not been discussed yet. It’s too early. Right now, our immediate plan is to finalise the preparation for the Twenty20 World Cup in India later this year.”

Dhumal also acknowledged that it was no surprise BCCI getting so many proposals from other countries about hosting the IPL.

“IPL is huge, and everybody wants to host IPL matches. It has a massive fan following even outside India.”
