Fastest 50 in Tests for India: India’s swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is known for his attacking game across the three formats of the game and he has already achieved some big milestones especially in Test cricket. Team India is currently playing Sri Lanka in a day-night Test match at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The hosts already have a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.
On the second day of the Bengaluru pink ball Test match, Rishabh Pant once again entertained the crowd by smacking the Sri Lankan bowlers all over the park. Pant also notched up the fastest fifty by an Indian in Test cricket having reached the milestone in just 28 balls. The southpaw went past legendary Kapil Dev’s record of scoring the fastest Test half-century for India off just 30 balls that came back in 1982 against Pakistan in Karachi. During the second innings of the day-night Test against Sri Lanka, Rishabh Pant scored a blistering innings of 50 runs off 31 balls that consisted of 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Last year during the England tour, Shardul Thakur came very close to the record having hit an incredible fifty off only 31 balls at the Oval. Former India opener Virender Sehwag had also scored a Test half-century against England off 32 balls in 2008 Chennai.
