The Indian team has been one of the finest performers in the test cricket for the past few years. Their performances are at peak in the overseas tours like England and Australian where they managed to win the series. While they dominated in the home series against England earlier in the year. This is mainly due to the improved performance of pace bowlers as well as spinners.
The 1st Test between India and New Zealand is being held at Kanpur. The first session was won by the Indian team by scoring 82 runs and losing only 1 wicket. While the New Zealand made a fine comeback by scalping 3 wickets in the 2nd session. Then the 3rd session saw the dominance of the Indian team in their home conditions. The batters like Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja scored half centuries to help the team in ending the day on a strong score of 258/4.
While in this session, Kane Williamson opted to attack with his spinners, Ajaz Patel and William Somerville. But, the bowling unit could not take a wicket in this session.
The Indian team put a strong impression by ending the 3rd Session well by the support of their experienced batters. For the home team, the next batters will be Wriddhiman Saha and Ashwin, who can provide contributions of 30+ runs as well. If they manage to score around 400 runs on this pitch, the spinners will have lot of runs to employ different strategies to dismiss the batters.
