It has been a fascinating Day 1 of 2nd Test match between India and New Zealand. After a delayed start due to wet outfield, the sun shone bright for the cricket fans to witness some cricketing action. Both the teams displayed quality brand of cricket at Wankhede Stadium.

After a fall of 3 quick wickets for the Indian team in the last hour of the 1st half of the game, the Indian team were in a spot of bother. But, a partnership of 80 runs between Mayank Agarwal and Shreyas Iyer brought positivity into the Indian team. The middle order batter Iyer fell to the left arm spinner Ajaz Patel for a score of 18 runs. Then the wicket keeper Wriddhiman Saha was impressive yet again with his shot selections. The opener Mayank Agarwal went on to make his 4th test century.

All the 4 wickets were taken by the Mumbai born Ajaz Patel, who was terrific with his line lengths and flighted deliveries. He certainly looked to take wickets off his each ball in the 2nd half of the game. While other bowlers have not been to contribute enough for the visitors.


What lies ahead in India vs New Zealand 2nd Test?

The Indian batters have ended the day on a fine fashion, with Wriddhiman Saha being a perfect partner to the centurion Mayank Agarwal. The next batters for the home team will be bowling all rounders, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin. The Indian team need to score a minimum of 350+ runs on a good batting surface.

The New Zealand have to get wickets from their fast bowlers, Jamieson and Southee at the start of Day 2, with the morning breeze allowing the movement of red cherry. While Somerville has been average, and the support has come only from Ajaz Patel.
