After the COVID-19 pandemic for the last two years, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to get back to ‘normalcy’. As some reports suggest, franchises have informally spoken to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL authorities regarding the preliminary schedule.

IPL 2023 Auction Date Announced? Here’s the update

The auction for the IPL 2023 is likely to be scheduled in mid-December, however, December 16 is likely to be the day. The auction’s location is yet to be decided; unlike last year, it’s going to be a mini-auction.

Each team will commence the auction with resources of a minimum of INR 5 crore since the salary cap has been expanded to INR 95 crore; INR 5 crore more than that of the last year. Although, if a franchise trades or releases players, the purse may even grow longer.

Moreover, as reported by Cricbuzz, the franchises have been made aware of the calendar. The decision has been taken deeming the confirmation from the ten franchises. There was a mega-auction last year as the two new teams were introduced, it won’t be the same this year.

As Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president, said earlier, the league is set to resume on a home-and-away basis in the fourth week of March. This means there will be ten locations involved, dissimilar from the last season, where only three venues were selected for the whole tournament.
