In his absence, the Rishabh Pant-led side gave chance to Steve Smith, Lalit Yadav and Ripal Patel. Though the trio played their part but none of them provided the same balance as the Marcus Stoinis. With Qualifier 1, a few hours away the availability of the Australian all-rounder for the clash has left everyone in doubts.

Addressing the press conference ahead of the clash, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant explained that Ripal Patel got the chance as an experiment because Stoinis was out with injury and his team had already qualified. He expressed hope that the Australian all-rounder will be fit enough to return to the XI for the first Qualifier.

“Ripal is a promising youngster, and we were already qualified so we thought we gonna try someone because Stoinis was injured. Hopefully, he will be in for the next game, so we thought we gonna give Ripal chance and see how it goes,” Rishabh Pant said.
