Quinton de Kock to miss SA vs IND 2021: In a recent development, South Africa’s premier wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock might have to miss the upcoming second and third Test against India scheduled to take place in January 2022. Quinton’s wife Sasha is expected to give birth to their first child in early January 2022 and that can rule him out last two Test matches of the three-match series starting from 26 December in Centurion.
South Africa’s selection convener Victor Mpitsang recently confirmed that Quinton de Kock is expected to miss atleast the third and final Test match against India that is scheduled to begin from 11 January, 2022. However, the selection convener also mentioned that if the senior wicket-keeper batter is required to leave the Proteas bio-bubble earlier than the third Test, he will then be leaving as soon as after the first Test match concludes. It is also learnt that one of Kyle Verreynne or Ryan Rickelton will replace de Kock in the South Africa playing 11.
It would be a big blow for the host South Africa team to replace a quality wicket-keeper and an important middle-order batter in Quinton de Kock for the part of the India Test series. Kyle Verreynne has played two Test matches having scored 39 runs while Ryan Rickelton is yet to make his Test debut for South Africa.

In another massive update, India’s senior opener Rohit Sharma has been ruled out for the three-match Test series against South Africa due to a hamstring injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Priyank Panchal as the replacement player. Panchal recently captained the India A team in the three Test matches against South Africa A. Team India will be chasing history as they are yet to win a Test series in South Africa.
