Team India’s campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 concluded with a 9-wicket win over Namibia in Dubai. The road for ‘Men in Blue’ in the marquee tournament saw the early exit as disappointing losses against Pakistan and New Zealand dented their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals. They then were dependant on Afghanistan to beat New Zealand but the victory of the ‘Black Caps’ overs the Mohammad Nabi-led side saw them getting officially knocked out of the tournament.

Team India was at the receiving end of a 10-wicket pounding at the hands of Pakistan in their first match of their T20 World Cup 2021.

One of the main architects behind Pakistan’s thumping victory over India was Shaheen Afridi. The left-arm pacer drew the early blood for his side by removing Rohit Sharma for a golden duck in the very first over of the game.

He then jolted KL Rahul with an unplayable in-swinging delivery to put Team India in all sorts of trouble. If this was not enough Afridi then came into the attack at the death and removed well-set Virat Kohli for 57 runs to shatter India’s hopes of posting a big total on the board.

Not only did he entertain fans with his sensational bowling, but he also made fans cheer for him when he emulated the dismissals of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in one of Pakistan’s matches.

Fielding near the boundary, a section of the crowd asked Afridi to copy the dismissals of Indian top-three. He didn’t disappoint his fans and one after another enacted the dismissals.

“It is the good wishes of my parents and all Pakistanis. Very happy with my performance. The plan was to bring the ball back in. I was just trying to swing it and I was just looking to give the team a breakthrough. That was what I practised in the nets as well yesterday. Batting against the new ball was tough.” Shaheen Afridi said.
