Chennai Super Kings are the first team to have made the playoffs in style in IPL 2021. They were the first team to be knocked out in the previous season which was the first instance for CSK in IPL history where they were asked to go home without playing playoffs/semi-final.
One has to say that they have deserved where they are at the moment mainly due to their aggressive brand of cricket which they have played throughout the season so far.
Lets try to predict the remaining sides who will make the playoffs along with CSK.
Delhi capitals have had a brilliant season so far with 8 wins in 11 games. Technically they can even finish at the top of the table at the end of the league stage but their current form doesn’t inspire confidence. But that shouldn’t stop them from making the IPL2021 playoffs as they already have 8 wins in their bag. They will automatically qualify for IPL2021 playoffs if they win any one of their remaining 3 games. They can also qualify even if they lose their remaining 3 games provided either of Mumbai Indians or KKR lose any one of their remaining games.
RCB are most likely to finish as the 3rd placed team at the end of the league stage. They would love to finish at the top 2 to give themselves an additional chance to qualify for the final but they don’t mind finishing at the 3rd spot as well as IPL playoffs schedule is such that the eliminator is set to take place in Sharjah where the wicket is extremely low and slow that suits RCB’s style of play.
The fight for the 4th place will be between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. Both the teams have 5 wins in 11 games and need to win all of their remaining games to stand a chance to qualify for playoffs. Out of these two teams, Mumbai Indians are expected to make the playoffs as the 4th placed side in this edition of IPL.
