NZ vs CAN MATCH PREVIEW:

With neither team managed to qualify for the World Cup, the managers of both the teams, Canada and New Zealand, may opt to give some young prodigies a chance to prove their worth.

Both these teams were regular opponents in the 1920s, and have met on a couple of occasions in 1980. But since then, this is the first-ever meeting between these two sides on the football pitch.

Though those matches were played a long, long time ago and have no impact whatsoever on today’s match, it’s worth noting that Canada has a good head-to-head record against the Kiwis.

The Great White North registered 4-0, and a 3-0 win in the two matches in 1980 against New Zealand, and their overall record against this country from the southwestern Pacific Ocean reads like this- Wins- 4, Draws- 2, Loss- 1. So if history is something that permeates confidence into an opponent who enjoyed success in his past, then Canada, for sure, are favorites in this match.

NZ vs CAN TEAM NEWS:

Canada:

Toronto FC hitman Tosaint Ricketts is expected to lead the attack for Canada. The 30-year-old forward has 15 goals in 57 appearances for his country. So New Zealand must watch out for this particular threat who is equally good with his head as he is with his right foot.

Cyle Larin and Atiba Hutchinson are players who have the experience of playing for one of the top teams in Europe, Besiktas. So head-coach John Herdman has enough attacking threat in his ranks to stretch his team’s good run against the Kiwis.

Canada is expected to hand some of its young players their debut. But Herdman is likely to mix youth with experience as he has named 10 MLS players for this particular clash.

While Liam Millar is a player who is a part of Liverpool’s Under-18 side, so we are backing him to be, at least, named on the bench.

Experienced players such as Ricketts, Piette, Larin, Hutchinson, Jaković, Edgar, and Borjan have all been included, so expect them to play in this match.

For Canada, Straith, De Jong, Ledgerwood, Hoilett, and Johnson won’t be taking part in this match.

PROBABLE XI (Please Choose your team wisely as both coaches are expected to hand several players their debut)

Borjan (GK), Ashtone Morgan, Dejan Jaković, Michael Petrasso, Tesho Akindele, Tosaint Ricketts, Samuel Piette, Cyle Larin, Atiba Hutchinson, David Edgar, Jonathan Osario, Mark Anthony Kaye

New Zealand:

While New Zealand’s biggest threat going forward is Sportclub Heerenveen’s striker Marco Rojas. But with just 5 goals in his 40 appearances and an expected line-up of unproven talent to be named by head-coach Fritz Schmid, the Kiwis may very well be in for a long evening in the match.

Another attacking player at all White’s disposal is Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Myer Bevan, who is expected to be handed the 2nd start of his international career.

The experienced trio of Tommy Smith, Kip Colvey, and Deklan Wynne are missing from the squad after Schmid decided to give young generation a chance to shine at the International level.

PROBABLE XI (Please Choose your team wisely as both coaches are expected to hand several players their debut)

Crocombe (GK), Michael Boxall, Themis Tzimopoulos, Tom Doyle, Sam Brotherton, Michael McGlinchey, Tim Payne, Ryan Thomas, Myer Bevan, Marco Rojas, Ryan Thomas

Key Players:

Canada – Cyle Larin and Atiba Hutchinson

New Zealand – Myer Bevan, Marco Rojas, Ryan Thomas

INDIA FANTASY PREDICTION:

Canada have experience in their ranks while New Zealand are expected to be led by the young generation. That would be a learning curve for them, but as far as this match is concerned, we are backing Canada to win it.
