Andy Flower is undoubtedly the greatest cricketer to come from Zimbabwe. The highest run-getter for Zimbabwe in Test as well as One Day Internationals, Andy besieged almost every opposition, irrespective of the conditions he played in. After a successful playing career, Flower coached England to two Ashes series wins, both home and away and helped win England the ICC World Twenty20 in the Caribbean.

• Andy hold Zimbabwean records for the most Test career runs, the highest Test batting average, and most ODI career runs.
  
• Andy holds the record for the highest ever test score by a wicketkeeper-batsman in an innings of a test(232*).
• Andy scored 341 in the first Test against South Africa in 2001, which is the second highest aggregate by a batsman on the losing side.
• Andy Flower is also the only cricketer to score an ODI ton on debut in a World Cup game.
• Together with Heath Streak, Andy set the record for the highest 7th wicket partnership for Zimbabwe in ODIs(130).

• On 22 December 2011, he was awarded with 2011 Coach of the Year in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.

• During the 2003 Cricket World Cup match against Namibia, Andy Flower and teammate Henry Olonga wore black armbands to protest against Robert Mugabe’s policies. This act led to Flower’s retirement from Zimbabwean cricket.
• Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen blames ex-coach Andy Flower for his exit from England and has quoted “Andy Flower was always trying to find ways to get rid of me”.

• Flower was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2011 Birthday Honours for services to sport.
• Flower is an Ambassador for the malignant melanoma support group, Factor 50. He himself had suffered from the illness and underwent surgery to remove a melanoma from his right eye in 2010.
