    • On 22 December 2011, he was awarded with 2011 Coach of the Year in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.

    Controversies

    • During the 2003 Cricket World Cup match against Namibia, Andy Flower and teammate Henry Olonga wore black armbands to protest against Robert Mugabe’s policies. This act led to Flower’s retirement from Zimbabwean cricket.
    • Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen blames ex-coach Andy Flower for his exit from England and has quoted “Andy Flower was always trying to find ways to get rid of me”.

    • Flower was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2011 Birthday Honours for services to sport.
