Twitter abuzz with birthday wishes for India’s greatest match winner, Anil Kumble

India’s greatest match-winner Anil Kumble turned 48 on Wednesday (October 17). India’s leading wicket-taker and third in the all-time list behind Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne, Kumble has given Indian Cricket more than any other. In 132 Tests, the leg-spinner amassed 619 wickets and from 271 ODIs he collected 337 scalps.

 

Unforgettable Kumble

In a career spanning over two decades, the former India captain has given us several unforgettable moments of ecstasy. From bandaged fractured jaw to deliver a stirring spell dismissing Brian Lara in Antigua (2002) to swallowing all ten wickets in an innings against arch-rivals Pakistan in Delhi (1999), there are so many moments Indian fans rejoice whenever the talk of Kumble pops up.

 

Wishes pour in

Cricket fraternity tweeted some beautiful birthday messages for Jumbo on their Twitter handles to extend their birthday greetings for Anil Kumble.

Maestro Sachin Tendulkar was one of the first to wish the former teammate, he tweeted, “To a dear friend and a champion. Happy Birthday @anilkumble1074

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh paid an emotional tribute to Kumble, calling him his inspiration. Bhajji tweeted, “Happy birthday to my idol, and my teammate, and an inspiration!
