India’s greatest match-winner Anil Kumble turned 48 on Wednesday (October 17). India’s leading wicket-taker and third in the all-time list behind Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne, Kumble has given Indian Cricket more than any other. In 132 Tests, the leg-spinner amassed 619 wickets and from 271 ODIs he collected 337 scalps.
In a career spanning over two decades, the former India captain has given us several unforgettable moments of ecstasy. From bandaged fractured jaw to deliver a stirring spell dismissing Brian Lara in Antigua (2002) to swallowing all ten wickets in an innings against arch-rivals Pakistan in Delhi (1999), there are so many moments Indian fans rejoice whenever the talk of Kumble pops up.
