2) Glenn Maxwell

This could be considered as a homecoming for the ‘Big Show.’ In the 2014 season, it was Glenn Maxwell who was the standout performer for Punjab and won quite a few games with his ability to hit the ball all around the park. However, it was followed by a poor season until he was finally released by the franchise as he then made way for Delhi Daredevils now “Capitals.” But Maxwell didn’t have much of an impact there either. With the Australian international being bought for the big bucks back to Mohali, we might get to see a revitalized Glenn Maxwell who’s known for his serious skill of smashing boundaries.

For Australia, Maxwell has scored 1576 runs from T20I innings with a strike rate of 160, which includes seven fifties and three, hundreds. In the IPL, the ‘Big Show’ has featured in 68 innings, and has a strike rate of 161.13, while also having six half centuries to his name.

3) Nicholas Pooran

West Indies’ wicket keeper batsman has been one of the finds in recent times for the Caribbean islands.  Pooran’s explosive nature in the middle order will make him a vital fit for Kings XI Punjab in terms of a late onslaught. The 24-year-old however, has been more prominent in the ODI format with 932 runs from 23 innings, while having an average of 49.05 and strike rate of 106.51, which includes seven fifties and a hundred under his belt. Pooran has also been a part of six innings in the IPL for Punjab where he has an average of 28.00 and a strike rate of 157.01.

4) Chris Gayle

The world doesn’t need much introduction for the ‘Universe Boss,’ Chris Gayle. Though some might argue that the veteran batsman is past his prime, Gayle still has enough in his tank to win quite a few games for Punjab through his monstrous hitting. Chris Gayle has been a long time servant of the IPL and has featured in 125 games. The 40-year-old has scored 4484 runs  with an average of 41.14, a strike rate of 151.03, while having 28 half centuries and six, hundreds to his illustrious career in the high profile league.  Gayle’s score of 175 against Pune Warriors India remains as the highest score by an individual on a match day.

5) Ravi Bishnoi

The 19-year-old wrist spinner could be the trump card of the season for Kings XI Punjab or even the rest of the IPL. Ravi Bishnoi clearly stood out for the India U19 Team in the Under 19 World Cup and the topped the charts with most number of wickets. Bishnoi’s well disguised googlies caused major problems for the batsmen as he ended up picking 17 wickets from six games in the World Cup with an average of 9. It will be interesting to see how KL Rahul uses the wrist spinner to his advantage as Bishnoi being an unknown commodity in the big stage could also work in Punjab’s favour.
