The bio-bubble restrictions amid the covid pandemic is been in practice in international cricket as well as the franchise T20 league since the 2nd half of 2020. The players have complained of mental fatigue due to the bio-bubble, as they do not have the freedom to step out of their hotel for reasons apart from dining and stadium visits. In addition, they have to undergo covid tests every other day to give confirmation to team management about their health. On Sunday, there has confirmation of another Rajasthan Royals opting out for personal reasons.
The Rajasthan Royals pace bowler Andrew Tye has fled to Australia due to personal reasons. Due to the rising cases in covid, there has been tension building up in the minds of cricketers. It’s quite natural that a family would also want them to play in a safe environment. Additionally, the cricketers are also concerned due to strict restrictions by the Australian government on people arriving from India. In 2018, Andrew Tye emerged as the leading wicket-taker but not featured in any games this season.

He became the 2nd overseas player after Liam Livingstone from RR to opt-out of IPL. With Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer also unavailable for the rest of the tournament, they are left with 4 overseas options, Jos Buttler, David Miller, Chris Morris, and Mustafizur Rahman. They are already in talks with South African batsmen Rassie Van Der Dussen.
Rajasthan has faced a huge upset after Stokes got injured, then Livingstone flew back from the bubble and now Jofra won’t be coming to play the IPL, when it was all down-going for the royals, AJ Tye left for Australia, stating personal reasons. Now as they have only four overseas players with them, they will have to look for some options and a few of them might be-
Thisara Perera: He is a handy all-rounder, who can bowl well and be handy with the bat. The Srilankan experienced player has been a player in the IPL from long ago, and he can bring extra experience to the team.
Alex Hales: Hales is a talented English batsman, who can be very fierce at the top with Buttler. Hales has only played for SRH in the IPL, and he is a perfect replacement for Livingstone at the top of the order.
Sean Abbott: The Australian pacer will be a perfect replacement for Archer and Tye, as he can provide the team, what they need in the absence of two of their players. In addition, he can deliver with the bat as well.
