IPL 2022: Lucknow IPL Team Name as Lucknow Super Giants. Check Details

Lucknow IPL Team Name: In a massive news update, the newly introduced Lucknow IPL team has been named as “Lucknow Super Giants”. The upcoming 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will comprise of as many as 10 teams including the brand new franchises from Lucknow and Ahmedabad. All the 10 IPL teams have already announced their respective player retentions ahead of the IPL mega auction 2022.

IPL 2022: Lucknow IPL Team Name as Lucknow Super Giants

The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group owned Lucknow IPL team has finally unveiled their team name as the Lucknow Super Giants for their first season in the Indian Premier League 2022. Earlier last week, Lucknow team owner Sanjiv Goenka announced their first three picks ahead of the mega auction namely the trio of KL Rahul (17 Crore), Marcus Stoinis (9.2 Crore) and Ravi Bishnoi (4 Crore). It was also confirmed that Rahul will captain the Lucknow-based IPL franchise.

It was earlier announced that Andy Flower has been appointed as the head coach while former India batsman Gautam Gambhir will be the mentor for the Lucknow IPL franchise. The Ahmedabad IPL Team has named their first three retentions as Hardik Pandya (15 Crore), Rashid Khan (15 Crore) and Shubman Gill (8 Crore). Hardik has been announced as the captain of the Ahmedabad-based franchise.

IPL Mega Auction 2022

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has already confirmed that this year’s IPL mega auction will be held on 12 and 13 February. However, the venue for the IPL auction 2022 is yet to be official announced but it is likely to take place in Bengaluru. Jay Shah also stated that the BCCI is planning to host the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League in the last week of March and the cash-rich T20 league will be played in India.

“I am delighted to confirm that the 15th season of the IPL will start in the last week of March and will run until May end,” said BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

“The mega IPL Auction will take place on February 12-13th and we will lock in the venues before that,” the BCCI Secretary added.
