The World Test Championship will be the extravaganza in itself, when the two best team over the period of 2 years in the test cricket will lock horns to bag the first title of the Championship. The final is scheduled to take place from June 18 to 22 in Southampton. The New Zealand team will play against England in a bilateral 2-match test series from June 2. The Indian team is currently in hard quarantine ahead of the departure to England. The International Cricket Council has prepared detailed playing conditions and has thought of the reserve days if there is an interruption during the regular five days of the test match.

What happens if WTC Final ends in a draw?

The Playing conditions were already decided in 2018 for the World Test Championship Final. If the match ends in a draw after playing full five days of play, India and New Zealand will crowned as the joint-winners of the World Test Championship. The reserve day has also been added to ensure the five days of play can be completed. The below was the ICC statement regarding the playing conditions,

“The reserve day has been scheduled to ensure five full days of play, and it will only be used if lost playing time cannot be recovered through the normal provisions of making up lost time each day. There will be no additional day’s play if a positive result is not achieved after five full days of play and the match will be declared a draw in such a scenario,” ICC said on Friday.

“In the event of time being lost during the match, the ICC match referee will regularly update the teams and media about the way in which the reserve day may be used. The final decision on whether the reserve day needs to be used will be announced at the scheduled start of the last hour on the fifth day.” ICC concluded.
