IPL 2021 Date

The IPL 2021 is scheduled to be held in the country from 11 April to 6 June 2021. The year 2020 was the worst for everyone including sports enthusiasts. The IPL is no different when it comes to fan following and team support. You may also consider that these teams are in no way lesser to any international team. The much-awaited tournament is returning to the country and we cannot be happier about it.

IPL 2021 Schedule

As the month of March sets in, the stage is set for the new season of IPL. The year 2020, however, was quite different. The outburst of the deadly virus, COVID-19 had impacted sports events on a global level. All international sports events were either cancelled or put on hold and IPL was no exception. The tournament later got approval from the BCCI and it was scheduled in UAE from 19 Sep to 10 Nov 2020. The tentative schedule for IPL 2021 is 11 April to 6 June 2021. There are 0 matches lined up for the event. The opening match will be held in the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai where the last year winners Mumbai Indians will meet the runners up Delhi Capitals in a power-packed game. The finals are scheduled in the same venue itself. There are speculations of an opening ceremony to be held before the opening game. The coming year all the teams will enjoy the home advantage as the matches will be played in their turf.

IPL 2021 News

The IPL has also been synonymous in identifying new talent and giving the youngsters a platform they never had dreamt of. It is a tournament where the young newcomers get to share the dressing room with the biggest icons of world cricket. The 13 seasons have seen many ups and downs for the cash-rich tournament. There have been team bans, brawls amongst players and team rivalry. The fans have witnessed it all, but the popularity and interest of the game have always been on an upward trend. The year 2021 will witness the 14th edition of IPL. It will be a challenge for the defending champions Mumbai Indians to register a hattrick win in the tournament. The arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings seem to be very disappointed with the cancellation of this year’s auction as they were planning a major overhaul of their players. The year 2020 had been CSK’s worst performance as they stood 6th in the team standings.

There have also been speculations that the IPL 2021 can be shifted to UAE yet again if the COVID-19 situation does not improve according to the government standards. This would mean that the league will yet again not witness live matches and home support. However, with a considerable amount of time still left in the commencement of the net season in April, the exact picture is yet to unfold.

IPL 2021 Team List

Earlier, the news of 2 new teams in the tournament for the next year was during rounds. However, the officials have cleared the air on the matter stating the IPL 2021 will be an 8 team IPL. The year 2022 is expected to be a 10 team IPL if the team auctions and other formal affairs are smoothly catered.
