Delhi Capitals got off to a great start in their season opener against Mumbai Indians. They didn’t play their full strength due to the unavailability of their first choice players. They have got some of their overseas stars available for this game and lets take a look at the composition of their side for the game against Gujarat Titans.
DC had just 2 overseas players available for their first game. As the ODI series between South Africa and Bangladesh just ended, they didn’t have Mustafizur Rahman and Lungi Ngidi for the first game who were serving the quarantine. Now that they are out of quarantine and have started practicing with the team, DC can get the services of both the players.
The likes of David Warner, Anrich Nortje, and Mitchell Marsh are still unavailable for the selection. Though Anrich Nortje is with the team, he is yet to recover fully from the injury while both the Australians are yet to join with the team camp. DC played with a very weak batting lineup but a deep one which eventually helped them win the game.
DC will be boosting their death overs department with the addition of Mustafizur Rahman. It was hard to understand the selection of Mandeep Singh ahead of Sarfaraz Khan who is in the form of his life. Sarfaraz Khan is an exciting player of spin bowling and easily better than both Mandeep Singh and Tim Seifert and they do need a solid spin hitter to complement Prithvi Shaw who is relatively weak against spin. They cant open with 2 players who have the same weakness as it will be easy for the opposition to plan against them.
