Most sixes in IPL: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one such T20 tournament where entertainment and excitement is guaranteed as witnessed over the years. The cash-rich T20 league kicked off in a sublime fashion as Brendon McCullum smashed an outstanding unbeaten innings of 158 runs off just 73 deliveries that included 13 sixes and 10 fours in 2008. The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League also started off in a wonderful manner with two exciting games played in the first double-header day.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis completed a total of 100 sixes in the IPL during yesterday’s game against Punjab Kings. The newly appointed RCB skipper contributed with an amazing innings of 88 runs off 57 balls that consisted of as many as 7 sixes and 3 fours. Du Plessis has now become the 10th overseas cricketer to hit as many as 100 sixes in the history of Indian Premier League. Universe Boss Chris Gayle has the record of hitting most sixes in IPL with a mammoth total of 357 sixes from 152 matches. The former South African captain now has 103 sixes in 101 IPL games.

IPL 2022: PBKS secures 5-wicket win against RCB
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a massive total of 205 for 2 on the scoreboard. RCB captain Faf du Plessis led his team from the front with a brilliant knock of 88 runs while Virat Kohli also scored an unbeaten 41 runs off 29 balls. Towards the end, Dinesh Karthik contributed with a superb cameo of 32 runs off only 14 deliveries.

In reply, Punjab Kings also got off to a terrific start at the top as skipper Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan blasted a total of 71 runs in 7 overs. While playing his first Indian Premier League game, Sri Lanka’s Bhanuka Rajapaksa also looked in a great form smacking 43 runs off just 22 balls. However, Odean Smith notched up a fantastic 25 runs off just 8 deliveries to help Punjab Kings cross the line with as many as 6 balls to spare.
