Has Dhoni hinted of retiring from limited overs cricket?
IS DHONI PLANNING TO RETIRE FROM LIMITED OVERS?
After the end of the England vs India ODI Series, MS Dhoni’s unusual gesture of taking the ball from the umpire raised plenty of rumours about his retirement from ODI cricket.
While the other Indian players were sad and lamenting on their loss, Dhoni was seen asking the umpires for the match ball. There were mixed reactions on Twitter. Some said he had done the same during the 2014 tour of Australia just before he shockingly announced his retirement from Tests. So, maybe, this too is a sign of retiring from limited overs match.
Here’s how he set Twitter abuzz with his gesture:
Dhoni did this only to shift focus of journos

Re: Dhoni oddly taking the match ball and leading to speculations – The only 'official' response so far is "I didn't see that. I don't know"…from Shardul Thakur in the press conference!

On a lighter note, MS Dhoni took the ball from the on-field umpire Michael Gough only to see why his aides couldn't inflict pain upon English batters. Having a ball, is not a bad omen at all. Remember, he is coming home. So, sit back & relax. Kohli won't let him retire. #ENGvsIND

DHONI CRITICISED BY HIS FANS
The former Indian captain is being hugely criticised for his disappointing play in the ODI series. After a successful IPL win with his great batting ability, his finishing abilities started being questioned after his slow knock at the Lord’s.
Dhoni lacked big hitting in the second and third game of the series and attracted severe criticism. In the second game, he scored 37 off 59 balls as India managed only 236 in reply to 323. As a result, the required target kept slipping away.
Dhoni’s struggles continued in the third game too as he managed to score only 42 runs but used up 66 balls for the same. Dhoni is also facing criticism for failing to guide India to a good finish and rather consuming many balls.
DHONI’S DIMINISHING FINISHING ABILITIES ARE BEING QUESTIONED
He was the last recognised batsmen at the crease and just when the hopes were high and it looked like he would accelerate, but he departed in the 46th over, leaving the Indian team in trouble.
India somehow managed a modest 256 for 8.
In reply, England chased down the target without any difficulty to win the series 2-1.
