DC vs MI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will no doubt provide fans with an enthralling contest between bat and ball. The addition of two new teams will not only double the excitement but will also increase the competition in the league by a certain level. Coming to Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions would be hoping to claim their stake yet again after having a poor season in 2021.
Mumbai Indians will kick start their IPL 2022 campaign against Delhi Capitals at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The five-time champions apart from retaining skipper Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard bought some exciting names in the auction.
They shelled out the whopping amount to bring back Ishan Kishan and also acquired the likes of Jofra Archer, Dewald Brevis, Tymal Mills, Tim David and Fabian Allen. English pacer Jofra Archer will not take part in this year’s tournament as he’s still on his road to recovery after an injury that kept him out of the game for long.
The Rohit Sharma-led MI will be without Suryakumar Yadav for the first match. Suryakumar Yadav is currently at NCA and is undergoing rehabilitation. The right-hander suffered a hairline fracture on his thumb during the T20I series against the West Indies. He can join the team’s squad only after getting the clearance from NCA. On joining the squad, he will undergo three days of isolation, which makes his availability for the match against DC in doubt.
When it comes to playing the best combination on the field, Mumbai Indians no doubt have the best management that backs its players and it is expected that they will do the same this time too.
Skipper Rohit Sharma along with Ishan Kishan will be the opening pair for the franchise. With Suryakumar Yadav not being available, Anmolpreet Singh is likely to bat at No.3 followed by N. Tilak Varna and all-rounders Kieron Pollard, Tim David and Fabian Allen.
Murugan Ashwin is expected to play the role of the spinner in the side whereas Jasprit Bumrah, Tymal Mills and Jaydev Unadkat are likely to form the pace bowling attack.
