Chahal should play more Red ball cricket said the Former Indian captain and current India A coach Rahul Dravid.
Rahul suggested the leg-spinner should try his skills in Red ball cricket because it will help him in playing the longer format. He said National Selectors wants to see him playing for India in Test and to sustain in this format; he should try himself and keep practising with the red ball.
Chahal has proved himself with the White ball. He has been rated as one of the best leg spinners in the world right now, and it’s time for him to fill the void space in the Test squad as well.
Rahul said in an interview, Indian selectors want to see him (Chahal) in the Test format and especially how he will manage? because he hadn’t played much. So, the more he practices for, the longer format, the more experience he will gain. There is no doubt about his skills, he proved himself in the shorter format, and it’s just that he needs to practice more.
While talking about Chahal, Rahul turned his focus towards his pupil Mayank and Prithvi, he said, I think they are playing outstanding cricket and they’ve proved it by the results. It’s good to see them developing as a cricketer. Mayank is quite exceptional while Prithvi has shown improvements at every level.
Rahul gave his take on Mohammad Siraj who bagged ten wickets against South Africa-A and helped India win the unofficial Test, the way he bowled in the death over’s has been terrific. He took 26 wickets in last 3-4 games. He is getting mature as a cricketer and also he is getting stronger physically. Dravid said He hadn’t played much cricket in his learning curve. He played IPL but not consistently. For him, I would say, the more he will play, better he’ll get, and it will be a good step.
