After winning the ODI series, Team India started the three-match T20I series on a high note as they completed a comprehensive 38-run victory over hosts at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday (July 25). The Shikhar Dhawan-led side would be eyeing a series win by clinching the second T20I and will look to test their bench strength in the final match.

The second T20I between Sri Lanka and India will take place today on Tuesday (27th July) at Colombo. With young opener Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav receiving a call-up to England to join the India side as a replacement for the injured players it is expected that the duo may miss the remaining matches against the hosts.

However, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra feels that the unavailability of Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav won’t be an issue for the Indian team in Sri Lanka as the likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Nitish Rana have played enough IPL cricket to fill the void and any two of them can replace the duo that will travel to England.

“If they (Shaw and Suryakumar) are available then I don’t think you need to make changes because you haven’t won the series yet. If they aren’t available, you have three options – Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Nitish Rana. You can play any two of these three players. They have enough experience after playing in the IPL,” Aakash Chopra told ESPNCricinfo
